Message From Mrs. Kruger 6/6/21

Hello All,

Summer is here and so is the heat. A One Call Now announcement went out earlier today to let all Allenstown families know that tomorrow, Monday, 6/7 will be an early release day.

Shannon Kruger, ASD Principal

Here are a few other notes as we plan for the final 10 days of school.

1. All Walk/Run Race permission slips must be turned into the office by the end of the day on Wednesday. We will need Thursday to make sure that we have staffing available to safely run all parts of the race. We will have a shorter route this year and that is attached. Parents can line up on the route to cheer on students, but they are not able to join their children on the route. The actual timing is still being worked on and that will go out later this week.

2. Mrs. Clark and Mrs. Paquin worked hard to create a Field Day schedule and stations so that all children at AES will be able to enjoy a very memorable last day of school. There will be 11 stations and all students will travel with their class. There is no need for bathing suits or towels this year. We also have a “surprise station” that should be lots of fun. Students will be able to get a treat at the ice cream truck (compliments of the PTO). Field Day will last most of the day.

3. Congrats to our 3rd and 4th graders for doing a great job on their state testing. I will be sharing scores by the end of the year as we still have some students making up tests next week.

4. If your student is still bringing his/her device to/from school, please note that they will have to turn in the device, case, and charger the last week of school. Check in to make sure they have all three items to return.

5. 6/14/21 – School Board Meeting at 6:00 pm at AES.

Even with her never ending list of tasks, Kim is always available to help us out, answer questions, or call a parent we can’t track down. Message From Allenstown School Board

To all Allenstown Community Residents:

We want to extend a most sincere thank you for the support shown at the March 9th, 2021 town vote. We thank you both for the passage of the ballot for a new school building and the passage of our school’s operating budget.

The Allenstown School District does an incredible job with the infrastructure in place today. The administrators and staff work creatively and innovatively to provide the best opportunities to the students and they show great pride in their work. A new school will only further their passion for educating our young Allenstown citizens. Our students will also feel a renewed pride in their school community. They will have opportunities provided to them that are not physically possible in our current buildings. Our students will have more tools available in the new school to be competitive high school students.

The overall Allenstown community value will also increase with a new school. This goes hand in hand with the increasing business community value that has been coming to Allenstown. A strong school plus strong business in our town will show just how incredible Allenstown truly is.

Thank you again for all of your support – you have all just made history in Allenstown!

Sincerely,
The Allenstown School Board

Message From Mrs. Kruger 3/8/21

(3/8/21)

Dear Parent/Guardian,

At the School Board meeting this evening, it was decided that Allenstown will soon begin moving students back to full instruction 5 days a week. This will happen in April and will include a two week phased approach to make sure that everyone can return to school safely.

The following are a few important dates and I will share more details by the end of the week.

3/25 – Early Release Day (parent/teacher conferences)

3/26 – Professional Development Day – no school for students.

4/5 – Students in Grades K, 1, 2, 3,and 8 will return to school and resume a normal 5 day a week schedule. Please note that it may take the week to get all K and 1 students in to their class at full capacity. Grades 4-7 will remain in their current hybrid model and cohort groups.

4/16 – Professional Development Day – No school for students

4/19 – Grades 4 – 7 return to school 5 days a week.

VLACS is the option that we can offer you for remote instruction if you do not want your child to return to school 5 days a week. Please contact Sarah Petersons at [email protected] or 603-485-9574, ext. 301 for any additional questions specific to VLACS.

Thank you and please look for additional emails in the coming days with specifics for each grade level.

Shannon Kruger, ASD Principal

School Opening Parent Survey

Dear Parent Guardian

As you know, the School Board decided to remain in our hybrid model through 3/26/21. Possible model options and/or a timeline towards fully reopening will be discussed at the March School Board meeting on 3/8/21. There are many considerations in the planning process and parent voice is essential. We hope you will take a moment to answer two questions in the survey link below. You only need to complete one survey if you have multiple students and/or if you have students at both AES and ARD. Thank you!

It’s go red day for the American Heart Association !! For all staff members make sure you stop by Mrs.Brison’s office to get your blood pressure checked and be entered into a raffle.

February is dental health month. Dental health fact of the day: Gross toothpaste! About 100 years ago, before the invention of tasty minty toothpaste that we use today, people used to make it out of ground up chalk or charcoal, lemon juice, ashes (leftover from a fire), tobacco and honey all mixed together. Sounds pretty yucky to us! Appreciate your flavored toothpaste that you use now.

Please don’t forget that Mrs.Brison is doing a toothbrush trade in. Bring in your old toothbrush in a plastic bag and receive a brand new one.

Finally, this is national school counselors week. We are all fortunate enough to have one of the best here at our school…Mrs.Douzanis. AES would like to acknowledge your hard work and your kind heart. Thank you for all you do in supporting AES students and staff. We are very lucky to have you.

Spelling Bee

Dear Parents and Staff,

We are going to still have our spelling bee this year in a covid-19 safe manner. Scripps and the Union Leader will provide additional information about the state spelling bee.

There will be classroom spelling bees after the long weekend (no school 1/18/21). Cohort B finalists will then compete on 1/22 and Cohort A finalists will compete on 1/25.  The final winner of Cohort A and the final winner of Cohort B will compete (details to follow) to determine who will represent AES at the state level.

Click Level One to view list One words.

Click Level Two to view list Two words.

Good luck and we look forward to a robust 2021 spelling bee!
