I can’t believe that as I write this letter, we are preparing for our final full week of school!
Last week we had 28 students attend the out-of-state trip and 6 students participated in the NH day trips. I had the opportunity to go to Pennsylvania and the Statue of Liberty. It was so nice to see our students enjoying themselves, learning, and representing ARD and the Allenstown community very well. When I returned to ARD, I got to have lunch with the students that had gone rock climbing and they seemed to enjoy the challenge of getting to the top of the wall. Please also make note of the gardening that has happened in the front of the building because they all helped with that community project. It will be nice to have the eighth graders back in the building on 6/11 to share their stories of travel and adventure.
On Friday, we will all take great joy and pride in recognizing our grade 8 students at the annual ARD Grade 8 Recognition event. The evening will begin at 6:00. Each grade 8 student has 5 tickets they can use to invite guests. Due to fire assembly codes, we are limited in the number of people that can attend. If you have any questions, please call 485-4474.
The weekly schedule is packed so I will share a visual that may make it easier to follow. Before 6/18, please talk to your student(s) and make sure that all library books and text books have been returned, lunch accounts are paid, items from their lockers are taken home, summer reading packets are brought home, and that he/she takes a look at the lost and found in the cafeteria. We will also be encouraging students to do all of these things through out the week.
Monday, 6/18 is the last day of school and it is a full day. That afternoon, students will receive their yearbooks and the awesome Allenstown PTO will be treating the students to a free ice cream from the ice cream truck.
I look forward to seeing many of you over the course of this last week and if you have any questions, please email me at [email protected] or you can call me at 485-4474.
REMINDER for parents that have students that ride their bikes, scooters, skateboards: PLEASE remind your student to wear a helmet, walks across the parking lot and walk at the crosswalks. I have had community members, staff, and parents share their concerns with me and the Allentown Police Department about students riding dangerously and without helmets. We do not want anyone to get hurt! THANK YOU!
Have a great week.
