Message From Allenstown School Board

To all Allenstown Community Residents:

We want to extend a most sincere thank you for the support shown at the March 9th, 2021 town vote. We thank you both for the passage of the ballot for a new school building and the passage of our school’s operating budget.

The Allenstown School District does an incredible job with the infrastructure in place today. The administrators and staff work creatively and innovatively to provide the best opportunities to the students and they show great pride in their work. A new school will only further their passion for educating our young Allenstown citizens. Our students will also feel a renewed pride in their school community. They will have opportunities provided to them that are not physically possible in our current buildings. Our students will have more tools available in the new school to be competitive high school students.

The overall Allenstown community value will also increase with a new school. This goes hand in hand with the increasing business community value that has been coming to Allenstown. A strong school plus strong business in our town will show just how incredible Allenstown truly is.

Thank you again for all of your support – you have all just made history in Allenstown!

Sincerely,
The Allenstown School Board

Message From Mrs. Kruger 3/8/21

(3/8/21)

Dear Parent/Guardian,

At the School Board meeting this evening, it was decided that Allenstown will soon begin moving students back to full instruction 5 days a week. This will happen in April and will include a two week phased approach to make sure that everyone can return to school safely.

The following are a few important dates and I will share more details by the end of the week.

3/25 – Early Release Day (parent/teacher conferences)

3/26 – Professional Development Day – no school for students.

4/5 – Students in Grades K, 1, 2, 3,and 8 will return to school and resume a normal 5 day a week schedule. Please note that it may take the week to get all K and 1 students in to their class at full capacity. Grades 4-7 will remain in their current hybrid model and cohort groups.

4/16 – Professional Development Day – No school for students

4/19 – Grades 4 – 7 return to school 5 days a week.

VLACS is the option that we can offer you for remote instruction if you do not want your child to return to school 5 days a week. Please contact Sarah Petersons at [email protected] or 603-485-9574, ext. 301 for any additional questions specific to VLACS.

Thank you and please look for additional emails in the coming days with specifics for each grade level.

Shannon Kruger, ASD Principal

School Opening Parent Survey

Dear Parent Guardian

As you know, the School Board decided to remain in our hybrid model through 3/26/21. Possible model options and/or a timeline towards fully reopening will be discussed at the March School Board meeting on 3/8/21. There are many considerations in the planning process and parent voice is essential. We hope you will take a moment to answer two questions in the survey link below. You only need to complete one survey if you have multiple students and/or if you have students at both AES and ARD. Thank you!

It’s go red day for the American Heart Association !! For all staff members make sure you stop by Mrs.Brison’s office to get your blood pressure checked and be entered into a raffle.

February is dental health month. Dental health fact of the day: Gross toothpaste! About 100 years ago, before the invention of tasty minty toothpaste that we use today, people used to make it out of ground up chalk or charcoal, lemon juice, ashes (leftover from a fire), tobacco and honey all mixed together. Sounds pretty yucky to us! Appreciate your flavored toothpaste that you use now.

Finally, this is national school counselors week. We are all fortunate enough to have one of the best here at our school…Mrs.Douzanis. AES would like to acknowledge your hard work and your kind heart. Thank you for all you do in supporting AES students and staff. We are very lucky to have you.

  1. Monday and Tuesday are Cohort A days.  Cohort B returns on Wednesday.
  2. If your family traveled outside of New England over the holiday, you are a close contact to a positive case, or your student has tested positive, please reach out to Mrs. Brison to confirm your quarantine dates so you know when it will be safe for your child to return to school. You can email Mrs. Brison at [email protected] .
  3. Your student will begin with a new unified arts class next week.
  4. If your student wants to play in the snow, please make sure they come to school with boots, snow pants, coat, hat, and gloves. If you need assistance with winter clothing, please reach out to Mrs. Douzanis, School counselor or Mrs. Brison, School Nurse [email protected] or [email protected]
  5. If your student wears boots to school, please also send along a pair of shoes for the student to wear during the day.
  6. Click January menus for breakfast and lunch menus.
  7. Attendance reminder – Parents can call out their student 5 days each year. Absences after those 5 days require documentation or they are considered unexcused absences. Once a student has 5 unexcused absences, they are considered habitually truant according to the State of NH definition.  School begins at 8:10. If a student arrives anytime after 8:10, they are considered tardy. If you have any questions, please email Shannon Kruger or Sarah Petersons.
  8. Remote VLACS Students – Mrs. Petersons will be doing a progress check early next week to make sure all students have a VLACS unified arts class and that every student has requested or has begun their academic classes. As of today, all elementary classes are open (with the exception of a couple grade 2 sections). If you need assistance, please reach out to Mrs. Petersons at [email protected]. We plan to have all remote students fully transitioned from Mrs. Williamson to VLACS very soon.

The holiday shop will be next week. Information has gone home. It will be available Tuesday and Wednesday At this time there will be no make up days. The shop will be set up as a display only this year and kids will put in orders. The PTO will be fulfilling the orders a couple days later. We are very grateful to the PTO for going the extra mile to provide this for all of our students.

Message From The PTO

AES FAMILIES:

The PTO will be hosting the annual Holiday Shoppe next week for students of AES! (Information and envelopes were sent home this week)

Due to the current circumstances the shoppe will look a little different this year; students will visit the shop and view a display of items and be able to place orders that will be filled by the PTO and returned to the school later in the week (payment is due at the time the student visits shop)

The Holiday Shoppe will be running Tuesday and Wednesday (12/8 and 12/9; one day for each cohort).

There will also be a shopping time for elementary students currently enrolled in the school district who are full-time remote learning this year. These students are welcome to visit AES between 1:00-2:30 Thursday 12/10 (parents will need to wait outside while their student shops)!

The PTO will be present during all shopping times to help students with placing their orders.

Students have truly enjoyed being able to shop for their loved ones independently in prior years and we are excited to be able to offer this again this year.

Please reach out to us at [email protected] with any questions!
